The esteemed Washington Blade newspaper honored the efforts of the Breaking Barriers campaign. In a recent article, the Washington Blade described the school’s image and championship to LGBTQ+ rights.

The Washington Blade learned more about the campaign by reaching out to the students operating the campaign, the board members, and the project coordinator Ms. Priyanka Randhawa. In conversation with the Blade, Vaanya Kalra, stated that her parents had a positive understanding of LGBTQ+ rights. Her family and friends did not object or showed dissent when Vaanya was planning to join the campaign.

The Blade’s article covers essential information on what the campaign has achieved. They also reached out to Jiya Chawla. “We have been to multiple schools. At least 20 schools offline and online we have been to more than 40 schools,” said Jiya. Jiya commented that the initiative consistently fights for LGBTQ+ rights, and the campaign never said that not supporting it is wrong. Jiya added that the campaign is actively trying to break that stigma.
