“Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.” – Helen Keller
At the recent Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) at Tagore International School, the Breaking Barriers team collaborated with the Naz Foundation to set up a stall featuring handmade jewelry crafted by members of the queer community. This collaboration aimed to celebrate the creativity and resilience within the LGBTQ+ community and bring awareness to their unique talents.
Throughout the day, students from the Breaking Barriers team interacted with parents and visitors, sharing the inspiring stories behind each piece of jewelry. The stall received an enthusiastic response, with many visitors showing appreciation for the artistry and dedication of the creators. The sale of these items provided direct support to the artisans, emphasizing the impact of community solidarity and inclusivity.
This PTM stall not only served as a fundraiser but also as a powerful platform to celebrate diversity within our school community. The success of the event has inspired the Breaking Barriers team to explore further collaborations with the Naz Foundation and continue their efforts to bring visibility and support to LGBTQ+ voices.
In conclusion, the partnership with the Naz Foundation at PTM was a meaningful and positive experience. Moving forward, the Breaking Barriers team is eager to build on this initiative, deepening its commitment to celebrating diversity and fostering an inclusive environment for all.
