“When everyone is included,everyone wins”

On 7th October, 2024, the Breaking Barriers members of Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, visited the Mitr Foundation Shelter Home, run by Rudrani Chettri. This visit aimed to foster interaction and understanding between the students and the residents of the shelter home.The visit included a “superpositivity session” where students engaged in open dialogue with the residents of the Trans shelter. This interactive session encouraged participants to share their experiences and challenges, promoting empathy and understanding. Students participated in various icebreaker activities that facilitated a comfortable environment for sharing stories. Residents shared their journeys and aspirations, inspiring students with their resilience and hope. Discussions focused on topics such as identity, community support, and the importance of acceptance. The visit was an enriching experience for both the students and the shelter residents. Students reported a greater awareness of social issues and the importance of community engagement. Many expressed a desire to continue supporting initiatives that promote inclusivity.The interaction at the Mitr Foundation Shelter Home was a meaningful experience that highlighted the power of dialogue in breaking barriers.
